Turn Out!

On the day I booked out from camp last week I went to stay over at a friend’s place
The next day we were going overseas with the church youth leaders for a retreat.
In the morning I missed my alarm and my friend woke me up
I jumped out of bed,
Grabbed my things,
Rushed out of the room
Heart pounding.

But we were not late.
My response surprised me a little.

This whole week in camp we lived in fear of ‘turn out’s
Being rudely awakened in the middle of the night,
Rushed downstairs to do exercises
With all our equipment on

We were always ready
We had to be
And even after booking out
I instinctively knew exactly what I needed to do in such a situation

If God prepares us for what’s ahead…
The difficult past year suddenly makes sense.
God prepares us for what’s ahead
I’m worried at what my future holds.
