Incomplete

Yesterday I went out with an old friend of mine. It had been over a year since I last saw her and it was quite a story regarding how we got back in contact. But that's not interesting to blog about.

I arrived at a crowded packed city hall station at peak hour and found her there in a black top that was somewhat like a dress which covered her pants. And of course, she wore black and white sneakers. For as long as I have known this girl, she has been crazy over sneakers. She probably has a pair for every colour top she has. So I should not have been surprised seeing her, even one year on, in a pair that matched her outfit.

But at least some things change- Her hair was no longer short and tied back in a ponytail but long and black and let down in a most elven manner. My hair was much longer this time too. Raffles City was jam packed, so we headed through City Link Mall all the way to Marina Square.

Anyway it IS very narrow and slow so much so that we could not stand side by side. Being gentlemanly I let her go first and followed behind. As we were approaching the top of the escalator though, I realised that her right shoelace had become undone after the long walk and quickly pointed it out to her. She hesitated for a moment and then it was too late. We hit the top of the escalator and the undone shoelace went into the escalator grove.

Instincts took over and she quickly reached down and yanked at the remainder of the lace that hadn't been gobbled up yet, but it continued to get pulled in. She twirled the lace round her finger to get a good grip and pulled back hard, but it didn't help. She then stumbled forward as the escalator pulled back and we realised her finger was stuck in the tightening loop of shoelace.

I quickly reached over(it was narrow!) to help her pull and she leaned forward to give the hardest jerk she could give to free her hand and shoe from the jaws of death with my help. But it was at that very moment that she realised she should have left her hair in that ponytail. In leaning forward, her hair started to slide into the escalator groove too. She let out a horrifying scream as
